On the 14th of July 2008 the joint venture between de KOK Staalbouw BV and the FRIJNS IG was awarded the contract for the supply and erection of a new Ship building and -repair yard in the harbour of Ras Laffan Indsustrial City in the North of Qatar.

This Shipyard for "Nakilat" ( a daughter of Qatar Petroleum in Doha ) is being built on the end of the ( 10 kilometers long ) Southern Breakwater that protects the expanded and renovated harbour of Ras Laffan City.

Nakilat is the company that will provide all required facilities to transport the LNG ( Liquid Natural Gas ) that is produces in Ras Laffan, all over the world.

The contract contains the supply and erection of :

- approximatly 11.400 tonnes of Steel Structures

- approximatly 65.000 meter2's of Roof claddings

- approximatly 35.000 meter2's of Wall claddings

- approximatly 4.500 meter2's of large sliding and roller shutter doors

- all required Platforms, Stairways, Ladders, handrailings etc.

The total project should be finished bij October 2009.
