QATAR Petroleum awards contract for new shipyard in Ras Laffan to the Joint venture between de Kok Staalbouw BV en Frijns Industrial Group.
On the 14th of July 2008 the joint venture between de KOK Staalbouw BV and the FRIJNS IG was awarded the contract for the supply and erection of a new Ship building and -repair yard in the harbour of Ras Laffan Indsustrial City in the North of Qatar. 
This Shipyard for "Nakilat" ( a daughter of Qatar Petroleum in Doha ) is being built on the end of the ( 10 kilometers long ) Southern Breakwater that protects the expanded and renovated harbour of Ras Laffan City. Nakilat is the company that will provide all required facilities to transport the LNG ( Liquid Natural Gas ) that is produces in Ras Laffan, all over the world.
The contract contains the supply and erection of : - approximatly 11.400 tonnes of Steel Structures - approximatly 65.000 meter2's of Roof claddings - approximatly 35.000 meter2's of Wall claddings - approximatly 4.500 meter2's of large sliding and roller shutter doors - all required Platforms, Stairways, Ladders, handrailings etc. The total project should be finished bij October 2009.
