On the instructions of Damen Shipyards in Vlissingen-Oost, De Kok Staalbouw has provided Dok 2 with a mega-sized roof canopy structure. The gigantic steel cap of this so-called Dok 2 measures 270 metres in length, 80 metres in width and 65 metres in height. To give you an idea of the dimensions: the structure is as tall as an 18-storey high-rise building, and has a surface that can be compared with three football pitches in a row. The total weight of the steel structure is approximately 3,600 tons. De Kok Staalbouw furthermore delivered the crane beams as well as the 2 overhead cranes, each with a 75 ton lifting capacity. In short, Damen Shipyards is now ready to build the largest sea-going vessels under ideal circumstances.
