Project:
Footbridge Sophia Children’s Hospital and Dijkzigt Academic Hospital
Project description
Based on a design by Aronsohn consulting engineers in Rotterdam, De Kok Staalbouw created the steel structure for a 96-metre twisting walkway connecting Sophia Children’s Hospital, Dijkzigt Academic Hospital and the medical faculty.
This type of bridge allows for a large free span. The clearance height under the bridge is 12 metres, using only one pylon. The twisted walkway is a technical tour de force in steel, containing a total of 230 tonnes of steel in the bridge.
