At the end of 2024, De Kok Staalbouw began the construction of Colorcon®’s new production facility at the Stichtsekant business park in Almere. The project has now been successfully completed and included the full steel structure of approximately 700 tons, combined with the complete building envelope.
Our scope included:
In addition, a Process Tower was constructed, and around the office and laboratory areas, aesthetic ‘brise soleil’ louvers were installed, enhancing both the building’s appearance and solar shading.
The facility will grow into a key production hub for GMP starch products, serving markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Thanks to its strategic location near Schiphol Airport and the Port of Amsterdam, Colorcon can rely on fast and efficient logistics connections.
The design was created by PM Group, after which De Kok Staalbouw carried out the detailed engineering. The steel structure was optimized and divided into large elements that could be transported, lifted, and assembled efficiently. Some of the most impressive components include:
In total, 30 to 35 steel transports were required, with load configurations carefully aligned to the assembly sequence. Thanks to this approach and meticulous planning, the façade cladding could be installed earlier than scheduled, resulting in significant time savings.
