With the construction of offshore wind farms, there is a great demand for high capacity cables to hook-up wind turbines to the shore. Dutch cable manufacturer B.V. Twentsche Kabelfabriek (TKF) produces these power cables. To meet the current high demand, they are constructing a new factory in Eemshaven. De Kok Staalbouw is a proud partner to be responsible for the construction.
De Kok Staalbouw is responsible for the design, production, delivery and assembly of the entire steel structure of the factory. This includes approximately 3,000 tonnes of steel. In this case our design scope also included design calculations of the main steel, roof, cladding and facade on top of the usual detail calculations.
The hall will be completed first, in September 2023. This hall will subsequently house various platforms, cable supports and other process-related structures.
With this new production facility, TKF expects to be able to produce up to 1,200 km of cable per year.
